The Como Police have officially intensified their surveillance and security activities on the waters of Lake Como. The main objective of the monitoring plan is clear: to prevent nautical accidents and ensure strict respect for navigation rules in one of the most frequented lakes in Italy. The operation was conducted by agents of the Internal Waters Section of the U.P.G.S.P. of the Como Police Headquarters, who concentrated their patrols in the first basin of the lake. Under the magnifying glass of the police are the areas with the highest density of boats, particularly the water mirrors in front of the most renowned tourist destinations: such as Villa Olmo, Villa Geno, the gardens of the Voltiano Temple, Villa D'Este in Cernobbio and the docking area at the Sant'Agostino pier. During one of these targeted controls, in the afternoon of yesterday, the agents had to intervene promptly to resolve a situation of potential danger and strong hindrance to circulation. A public navigation boat, ready to depart on its route, found its route blocked by a private boat. Despite the commander of the public boat having repeatedly activated the acoustic signalers to request the necessary space for maneuver, the private boat remained immobile, effectively blocking the departure of the boat. The crew of the Internal Waters Section, having noticed the scene, immediately intercepted the private boat. Once the effective violation of the rules regulating priority and maneuvers of public vehicles was ascertained, the police proceeded to identify the owner of the private boat, against whom a fine of 120 euros was issued. The Police Headquarters has left a note explaining that the attention of the State Police on the waters of Lake Como will remain constant and high throughout the summer period. The risk of nautical accidents, linked also to the inexperience of some sailors, remains elevated and will not be tolerated any conduct that puts at risk the safety of passengers and the navigation line.
